ROD STARR Practice Principal

Rod Starr was born on the Far North Coast of NSW in the frontier town of Bonalbo. Rod's parents were dairy farmers, who moved to Rosebank when Rod and his siblings were due to go to school. Rod's childhood revolved around animals, with dogs, cats, birds, cattle, horses and native animals.

After high school in Lismore, Rod attended University of Sydney 1970-1975. After stints in Brisbane, Charlestown, Maitland,  Belmont , Swansea, locums all over the state and two years in UK,  the decision was made to settle in Tanilba Bay to start a new Practice in 1984. Since that time practices were developed in Medowie and Nelson Bay.
Rod is now centrered on Working from the Tanilba Bay practice to provide superlative service to our clients and their Very Important Pets

Rod has participated in  post graduate training in Ophthalmology, Cardiology, Sonology, Surgery, Radiology and Practice Management. 

Rod is heavily involved with the Australian Veterinary Association and will be President of the NSW Division in 2009. Rod teaches Sellf Defence at the Salt Ash Branch of the Australian Academy of Jijutsu. Pets include StaffyX Ned and cats Kitt & Slim 


ROSS BEATTY Veterinarian

Ross Beatty has worked in small animal practice since 1976, and at Tanilba Bay Veterinary Hospital since 2003.

Ross has two cats, Jonah and Bella.

When he is not working, Ross enjoys playing golf.



BEN EVERETT Practice Manager

Ben Everett was born in Melbourne and raised in the historic town of Beechworth in northern Victoria. Ben arrived in Port Stephens and decided to settle here in 2000, after traveling around Australia for 16 months.

Ben started at Tanilba Bay Veterinary Hospital as a trainee in 2004. He has qualified as a Veterinary Nurse with his Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, and since 2007 has been Practice Manager, overseeing the running of the practice, staff training and the establishment and maintenance of practice standards. In late 2008 Ben started his Diploma in Practice Management at the University of New England.

In his spare time Ben enjoys sketching, cooking, swimming, fishing, bird watching and observing and studyin
g animal behaviour.


LAUREN OASTLER  Head Nurse

Lauren Oastler is the Head Nurse at Tanilba Bay Veterinary Hospital. Lauren started in the practice doing work experience in year 11. Lauren has since graduated with her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, and risen through the ranks to her current position.

Lauren's menagerie consists of two dogs, Bella and Cooper, four cats, Frankenstein, Sabrina, Schnookems and Molly, a lorikket called Gonzo and a budgie called Oscar.

Lauren's other passion is cars. She has a hot pink Ford Festiva which she enters in car shows, and a new project, a Nissan 200SX, which she currently uses for everyday transport. When not looking after her pets or cars, Lauren enjoys the beach, the sun and partying with her friends



CAROL REBB Veterinary Nurse

Carol Rebb is a qualified Certificate IV Veterinary Nurse with 12 years experience including 3 years as a practice manager in England. Carol has worked with us since 2007.

Carol runs our
Puppy Preschool and annual Puppy Preschool reunion.

When not working, Carol's time is fully taken up looking after her 2 dogs, Blackie & Katie, her cat Sophie, tropical fish, chickens and her nephew Thomas.





KATIE SILLETT Veterinary Nurse

Katie Sillett has worked at Tanilba Bay Veterinary Hospital since 2006. She graduated with her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2008.

Katie's responsibilities include the maintenance of the X-ray facilities in the practice.

Katie has two very spoiled German Shepherds, Phoenix and Jedda, and enjoys playing her guitar in her spare time.



KYLEE WALTERS

Kylee started work at Tanilba Bay veterinary Hospital in early 2010. She has worked in a veterinary practice since getting her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2004.

Kylee lives on a small acreage with her partner Steve and children Gabrielle and Luke.

Looking after animals is an important part of Kylee's live, both at work and at home. She has one cat, eight dogs, 5 stock horses and five calves. Kylee is also an active member of ther native Animal Trust Fund. When she is not caring for her own animals she raises and rehabilitates flying foxes, possums, gliders, kangaroos and ducklings.

In her remaining spare time Kylee enjoys going to the beach, horse riding and farming.
