What vaccinations are given to puppies?
Puppies need a course of three vaccinations, given at 6-8 weeks of age, 10-12 weeks of age and 14-16 weeks of age. The first vaccination is a C3 vaccination, covering Distemper, Hepatitis and Parvovirus. The second and third vaccinations are C5 vaccinations, covering Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus and two different forms of kennel cough.
What vaccinations are given to adult dogs?
Adult dogs need a C5 vaccination every 12 months.
What are C4 and C5 vaccinations?
A C4 vaccination protects dogs against Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus and Parainfluenza, which is a virus which can cause kennel cough. A C5 vaccination also covers Bordetella, a bacteria which can also cause kennel cough.
Will my pet have a reaction to the vaccinations?
Reactions to vaccinations in dogs are not common. The two most common reactions are pain at the injection site and mild lethargy. These signs normally pass within 24 hours without treatment.
