What vaccinations are given to kittens?
Kittens also need a course of three vaccinations at 6-8, 10-12 and 14-16 weeks of age.

What vaccinations are given to adult cats?
Adult cats need annual vaccinations against Feline Enteritis, and Cat Flu plus FIV if they spend any time outside.
What is FIV?
FIV or Feline Immunodeficiency Virus is related to the AIDS virus in people. It causes a similar deficiency in the immune system.
How is FIV spread?
FIV is spread by saliva when cats fight. For this reason, all cats which spend any time outside are at risk of getting FIV.
How common is FIV?
Between 15% and 25% of cats which spend time outside will test positive to FIV.
What is involved in vaccinating for FIV?
Cats need three vaccinations against FIV at 2-4 weekly intervals, then one vaccination each year. Kittens less than 6 months of age do not need to be tested. Cats over 6 months of age should be tested before vaccination to make sure they are not already infected with the virus.
Will my pet have any side effects from the vaccination?
Reactions to vaccinations in cats are rare. The two most common reactions are pain at the injection site and mild lethargy. These signs normally resolve within 12-24 hours without treatment.
